Commentary
Vito Acconci originally started his career as poet and writer, but in 1969, he shifted to produce visual work. Early production included simple scenic photographs with short titles. In the 1970s, he began to produce videos and films followed by texts and simple words. Later during this time period, he started to use his body for performances in order demonstrate the many relationships that may exist between the artist and his work by making the body the focus of creativity.
